¡Hola! My name is Ana and on this page I am going to tell you a little bit about myself. Apart from being a qualified Teacher and Educational Psychologist, I consider myself an enthusiastic entrepreneur who, above all, enjoys giving free rein to her creativity to translate her ideas into reality, or at least try!
Ten years ago, my desire to explore the world and different ways of seeing and living life, led me to find in teaching my mother tongue an easy and beautiful way to connect with people and cultures from different corners of the planet.
In 2019 I founded Escuela Español VIVO, in which we use a teaching-learning method based on language immersion with the aim of teaching the real-life Spanish people use so that it can be learned from anywhere.
In addition to teaching, I love learning and among other things I love to dance, explore new places, exercise body and soul, read at the beach, philosophize about the meaning of life, psychology, symbolic languages, etc, etc, etc.
My experience at learning languages
- When I was studying at school we had English and French classes. At that time I was not interested in languages at all. Perhaps due to the methodology used, where all the emphasis was placed on the knowledge and handling of grammar and not much time was spent developing oral expression or listening comprehension in real contexts.
- Of course, learning grammar is important but not the only thing to pay attention to if you want to be able to communicate in the language you are learning. Also, the teachers at the school were not native and their pronunciation was not very good.
- It was while studying at University that my interest grew and I decided to sign up for English classes. On my own I also searched for listening materials, started watching movies in English and finally decided to look for a native teacher before making the jump to my first immersion experience in Ireland.
- From my own experience I can tell you that being constant and reviewing everything you are learning regularly are key to obtaining results. Also make sure you have at least one motivation that encourages you to keep going and not give up on those moments when everything seems so difficult! Of course, listen and speak Spanish as much as you can.
My story in short
- I was born and raised in Galicia, in the northwest of Spain, where you will not only find top quality food but also some of the most beautiful beaches in the world but, since not everything could be so wonderful, unfortunately it rains a lot. So my best childhood memories belong to the summers. When it was sunny and warm!
- I studied to become a Teacher and later an Educational psychologist at the University of A Coruña. After finishing my courses in 2009 I decided to move to Ireland. There I lived a year in which I could improve my English skills, travel in and out of the country and meet different and interesting people from different corners of the globe.
- This experience only awakened my adventurous spirit and later other trips to other parts of the world would follow, mainly in Europe, spending longer stays in destinations as fascinating as Australia, the Greek islands and Africa. This way my passion for languages emerged and also my interest in learning about different cultures, their customs and peculiarities.
- In 2010 I started teaching Spanish in Dublin, Ireland, and in 2012 I moved to London, where I continued offering private lessons and to small groups until the summer of 2015. Since October of that same year I live on the enigmatic island of volcanoes: Lanzarote.
- In 2016 I launched Vamos Audioblog website, where I was sharing a learning method based on language immersion that aimed to help anyone who wanted to learn and improve their Spanish to do it from anywhere. This project has been evolving in recent years and in 2019 I founded Escuela Español VIVO.
- Committed to promoting innovative and effective teaching-learning models, my aim is to facilitate learning Spanish from anywhere, combining a language immersion method and self-learning with the irreplaceable support of an experienced teacher. My role is to be a guide in your learning and provide you with the help you need during your learning experience. Would you like to learn the real-life Spanish people use?
